Purslane

Purslane is a great full sun ground cover.  When most other plants are struggling to push through the summer heat, this plant is thriving and blooming like crazy.  Purslane is considered an annual because it will freeze in the winter, but its self re-seeding habits will keep this plant in your garden for years to come.  The flowers range in a rainbow of colors from hot pink, magenta, purple, orange, yellow and white.  This plant "sleeps" at night, as the flowers close in the afternoon, and open up again in the morning.  Purslane makes a wonderful addition to any rock garden or dry spot.  The butterflies and bees will thank you for adding it to their home!
This plant made my day! How bout yours?
